America’s symbol returns to the Merrimack River/Plum Island Refuge area.
Returning from a trip to Amesbury to exercise my dog, Kane, at Woodsum this morning, I was approaching the Plum Island bridge and noticed several cars parked on the side of the road. Wondering what the curiousity was all about, I looked to my right (towards the river) and saw what everyone was looking at — a beautiful, large bald eagle. My jaw dropped at the spectacular sight! Brilliant white-feathered head, large black body, the masculine bird was just sitting out on the edge of Plum Bush downs..
Needless to say, my camera wasn’t anywhere to be found. But the vision of that beautiful bird would be permanently etched in my mind’s eye.
